After a two-year Covid hiatus, the popular Mayfield Park gardening symposium, Trowel & Error, returned with its plant sale, gardening talks, raffles, tasty snacks, peacocks,  and lovely cottage garden walks. Trowel & Error is Mayfield Park’s only fundraising event each year.

Wizzie Brown of Texas AgriLife Extension Services offered advice on getting insects and pollinators into gardens, Colleen Jamison talked about her adventures in planting a large median in her neighborhood – calling it “Inspiring the Accidental Gardener,”  and Theresa Anderson led the gardening group through ways to amend soil naturally and organically for roses.

The symposium is organized by The Mayfield Council, of which Blake Tollett is the leader. Members are Rick Chance, Janice Brown, Tricia Ziegler, Sharon Lamb, Barbara Watt, Shawnee Merriman, and chair emeritus Karen Cannatti. . .
