H Mart is getting closer to opening on Burnet Road, ya’ll – an actual H Mart logo sign has gone up, actual construction crews are working inside and outside, actual doors have replaced the plywood, and hmart.com actually lists its Austin II store at 5222 Burnet Road. Things are happening and I’m getting excited. I’ll report back soon. I hope.

Eldorado Café at 3300 W. Anderson is expanding, but you won’t see the new next door space for several months. Owner chef Joel Fried says it about doubles the space they have now and will allow Eldorado to have a kitchen dedicated to takeout and catering. Sooner than that, though, comes opening on Mondays. Planned for this summer some time, even one more day in the week means it might make it easier to get those Resy spots at this popular Tex-Mex comfort food spot. Tuesday through Saturdays, 9am to 10pm; breakfast, lunch, and dinner; eldoradocafeatx.com for info.

Lamme’s Candies had been Austin’s hometown candy store for 141 years. The home of the famous Texas Chewie Pecan Praline is in the process of closing all its stores, with the Airport location being the last to close. Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day won’t be the same without Lamme’s chocolate covered strawberries. And lucky me, I celebrated my early May birthday with a box of those chewy pecan pralines of theirs. Part of their sign-off was this: “Since our founding 1885, Lammes Candies has been proud to be part of Texas traditions, creating handcrafted sweets and memorable moments for generations of customers like you.” Thanks for the sweet sweets, Lamme’s Candies.

Allday Pizza is coming to 2222 at the old Reid’s Cleaners near Dry Creek Drive. Short on details, but the pizza we learned to love at Flo’s Wine Bar is coming to Northwest Hills and I hope they’re bringing that creamy soft-serve with them.
