Anderson High Homecoming Parade is Sept. 29 at 6:15 p.m. The parade starts north of the school on Cima Serena and winds around Tallwood, Hyridge, Silver Ridge, and Steck to return to the school on Mesa. Anderson Homecoming is Friday, Oct. 3 when the Trojans play Kyle’s Lehman High at Nelson Field.

Nicole Sarkar has joined Friends of Balcones as executive director. As the nonprofit partner of Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge, Friends of Balcones works with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to conserve and protect the natural beauty, biodiversity, and ecological integrity of the unique region, which is west of Austin and north of Lago Vista in the Texas Hill Country. NAMI Walks Central Texas is Oct. 18 and kicks off at 8:30 am at Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Rd., for a walk through downtown to the Capitol and back. Participants and teams have raised more than $100,000 of the $175,000 goal for the walk to raise awareness of mental illness and to provide free programming and classes for individuals, families, congregations, and work and school groups provided by NAMI Central Texas. “Mental Health for All” will make a powerful change in communities.
