The 17th Annual Champions to CureDuchenne Gala, hosted by the Revells family of Austin and held at the University of Texas Golf Club, was a night of vintage Western glamour that raised more than $455,000 to support CureDuchenne’s mission to advance research and improve care for families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a fatal neuromuscular disease.
Guests, decked out in their sharpest cowboy-chic attire, enjoyed gourmet cuisine, craft cocktails, live music and dancing, and exciting live and silent auctions. The evening also featured a high-energy casino experience straight out of the Wild West, adding a fun twist to the night.
Finding a cure for Duchenne carries deep meaning for the Revells, whose sons Timothy and Andrew were diagnosed with the disease at ages 2 and 5. At the time of their diagnosis, resources and treatment options were extremely limited, inspiring the Revells to raise funds to advance research and provide support for other families. Their efforts have helped raise more than $7 million to accelerate the search for a cure.
“We are continually inspired by the strength of the Duchenne community and the generosity of those who support this cause,” said Tim Revell. “As parents to Timothy and Andrew, this mission is deeply personal. Everything we do is driven by the hope of bringing them, and every child affected by Duchenne, treatments that will help them live longer, stronger lives. We’re proud to bring the Austin community together for a night that is both impactful and unforgettable.”
Debra Miller, founder and CEO of CureDuchenne, commented, “The passion and dedication of families like the Revells are at the heart of the progress we’re making in Duchenne research,” adding, “Events like this not only raise vital funds, but also bring hope to families around the world, including the Revells, who need treatments and, ultimately, a cure.”
