Lions Municipal Golf Course located at 2901 Enfield Rd. invites the Austin community to its 100th anniversary on October 3rd. The LIONS MUNY CENTENNIAL-"100 Years Young" celebration, organized by the Muny Conservancy and Austin Founder Lions Club, will be an all-day event focused on celebrating the iconic Lions Golf Course's presence in Austin as a long-standing community treasure. Festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with a parade and Historic Car Show. The official proclamation of the centennial anniversary is at 10:00 a.m. and is open to the public: golf tournament (1:00 p.m.) and dinner (5:30 p.m.) for registered participants. Parking is limited. Shuttles are available from LCRA starting at 8:45 am.
Preservation Austin will host its 2024 Legacy Business Month Kick-Off Party at Zilker Taproom, 1701 E 6th Street, on Thursday, October 3, from 6-9 pm to celebrate its 2nd Annual Legacy Business Month (LBM). October is Legacy Business Month in the City of Austin. The party will feature a limited edition LBM beer from Zilker Brewing Company, live music from KOOP Radio, and a photo booth for LBM Passport photos.
Day Maker Half Day Cafe, located at 1101 S. Mopac (next door to Salt Traders Coastal Cooking), will open its doors to the public this fall. The new restaurant, backed by Jack Gilmore (Jack Allen’s Kitchen) and Tom Kamm (Salt Traders Coastal Cooking), will offer breakfast, brunch, and lunch seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Old Quarry Branch Library off Far West Blvd. will have some seriously new spaces when it opens in early 2025: shared learning rooms, improved children’s area, a new teen space, and an outdoor reading space. While Old Quarry is closed, its No Homework Book Club has moved to Milwood Branch on Amherst, as always first Wednesday 2pm-3pm, so Oct. 2. The renovated Old Quarry will open with a modernized layout and interior design as well as exterior façade improvements, ADA changes to bathrooms, LED lighting, and sustainable flooring.
